Controlling validation manually
The automatic live validation of models can make even expensive computers break a sweat when the number of elements in the each editor increases. In this screencast one will see how to cope with that problem.
ModuleStudio calls the live validation process at regular intervals. Version 0.5 makes these calls every two seconds (earlier versions the interval was once each second). In future versions it is planned to allow this interval to be set in the prefererences. Each diagram validated individually, therefore the validation calls can start to collide if individual Model elements can not be processed within its allotted two second window.
One means to work around this problem is to deactivate the live validation altogether. To do this, we open the progress view using the icon that appears at the bottom right. Here, we can see the different validation jobs. With the stop icon we can halt and exit them. From now on the performance problems should be solved.
Once stopped, if one wants to see the intermediate results of modeling, or wants to be able to start the generator, the validation processes must be explicitly executed. One simply uses the according action „Validate“ in the „Edit“ menu.
This starts the manual validation checking the same rules as the live validation.
