Customise palette
The palette in ModuleStudio can be customised in several ways. This video points out the different possibilities. If the term "palette" is not a familiar one, you should watch the tutorial about basic usage of ModuleStudio first.
First of all the palette can be repositioned by moving it with drag n drop by dragging its heading. In addition, the width of the palette can be changed. A little bit less obvious is the ability to hide the palette completely; the small arrow on the palette heading serves for that.
Let's look at the palette content. It is important that one has an overview of the tools in the palette. In the main editor there are not many Model elements, therefore the whole thing is clearly arranged. In the data editor on the other side there is no overview, especially for smaller screen resolutions. The elements are divided into groups, though, which can be opened and closed using mouse clicks. Single groups can also be fixed with a pin so that they are not automatically closed when other groups are opened.
The appearance of the elements can be adjusted to individual tastes. Clicking the right mouse button on the palette provides the option „Use Large Icons“ and a sub-menu called „Layout“. One should experiment with the different settings to get a feeling for the different possibilities. The choice to use small or large icons is stored for each layout type.
Additional customisations and special customisations can be specified with the two menu items „Customize...“ and „Settings...“. Customize allows one to change or hide individual palette entries. We could, for instance, redefine the description text for a specific entry. Settings opens a dialog which allows one to adjust different settings for the palette, like the font being used.
